bbkRC How To Download and Run a BRCA Touring Car National
Overview
The BRCA are developing a system for central booking.  One of the main benefits to Clubs organising BRCA National Touring Car meetings is that the entire meeting entry data can be downloaded into your bbkRC Race Program without the need for you to type any data.  At the end of the meeting the results can be sent back to the Central Booking system, again without you having to type any data.  In the future this central booking system will be available for use by other BRCA Sections.  You will need to bbkRC Version 1.1.  If you have not upgraded to this version yet, please do so before proceeding.

Getting the Meeting Data
The data for the meeting will be sent to you, probably by email, in a small data file.  You need to put this on a floppy disk, USB memory stick or the hard disc on your Race PC.  At the end of the meeting you will produce another small file that will need to be sent back, again probably by email

Making a New Database
The data will list every driver in the meeting, together with crystal, personal transponder number and, if required, car details.  The drivers' will be referenced by their BRCA numbers.  These might clash with other driver numbers on the system to it is best to make a new database from the initial bbkRC Screen.  When you press the "Make Extra Database" button you get "Make New Database".  Enter a name for the database, "BRCA Touring Car National" for example and Race Class Heat Settingstick the Copy RaRace Class Finals Settingsce Classes and Transponders (if you have an AMBrc Transponder system).  Press the OK button, select the options you want and then OK on the initial Screen and the Race Program will load and ask you to set up the meeting.  If you are using an AMBrc Decoder on the serial port, don't forget to set the Autocount device to AMBrcUSB.  You now have a brand new database, with your handout transponders set up and you usual Race Classes available.  Decide which Race Class(es) you will use and set it up for the BRCA Touring Car formats.  Race Durations are 5 minutes with a staggered start for heats, Auto Start Cars after first car laps, FTQ Qualifying, Best Time Grid and BRCA 1/10th Electric Circuit Rules.  Set the Finals Tab to 2 legs for all finals and BRCA 1/10th Electric Circuit Rules.  Now we are ready to import the Drivers.

Importing Driver details
Select Race Competitors and Click the "Load Competitor CSV File" Button and the Import CSV File form is displayed.  CSV stands for Comma Separated Variable and is a simple file format for tabular data.  You can manipulate and make CSV files using Microsoft Excel.  The first thing to do is locate your Import data.  Press the search button at the top of the screen and browse to your data file.  When you close the browser you will see the first record of the CSV file in the left hand window.  You can move thought the file with the control to look at each record of the data.  You can also view the import file in tabular form by pressing .  The first record is the column titles.  Then press the   button and the corresponding bbkRC Database fields for the BRCA Central Booking data will appear in the middle middle window.  When you start the import, this is how the imported data will be "mapped".  Some of the data in the BRCA file will not automatically be matched with the bbkRC data so you will have to resolve a few things during the import.  Press the Load CSV Button and the first field that needs confirming is the Driver Type. the BRCA Central Booking has 2 Driver Types, Normal (0) and Junior (16). If you are using the default bbkRC settings you need to double click on Senior and for the rest of this import 0 in the Driver Type filed will be loaded as Senior.  The next item that needs confirming is Race Class.  This will be a number in the BRCA file and you can equate this to one of your bbkRC Race Classes in the same way as for Driver Type.  Next to be confirmed will be Entry Status.  The BRCA file uses "entry" for bbkRC Confirmed.  If Car Type information is included in the CSV file you may have to match up "alternative" spellings for particular cars.  Once all the confirmations are complete the data will be processed very quickly and your Competitors will be entered into the meeting.  All you have to do now is load them into races by whatever means suits you best.

Exporting the meeting results
Once you have run the meeting, select Race Competitors and select all the competitors.  Hint!  Select the All xxx tab, select one competitor then press Ctrl-A and all competitors will be selected.  When you make the CSV file only the selected competitors will be included, so its important to include all competitors.  If you are running a meeting with more than one exportcsvform.jpg (46925 bytes)Race Class, we suggest you make a results file for each Race Class.  To select all the competitors for a particular Race Class select Group By: for Final Class and select the required Race Class from the Tab, then follow the above procedure to select all competitors in that Race Class.  Press and you will see the Make Competitor CSV Screen.  Press the button and the required fields for the CSV Results file will appear in the right hand window.  Press the  button and enter the name of the results file.  Make sure the Include Headings box is ticked.  You can check the CSV file by pressing in the Preview CSV button the make the CSV File.  Now send the file back to the BRCA Series coordinator and they can update the series.  That is it, as simple as that!
